Does anyone have information concerning a supposedly new requirement for obtaining a Dutch Consent form to transit Amsterdam with firearms that the application contain a "letter of invitation" from your outifitter? If so, has anyone obtained one and what does it look like? I'm going to Tanz via Amsterdam in July and this was not part of the application in 2008.

Hi Sir

I did note that most of my 2009 hunters asked for a letter of invitation, which we sent as a very simple -

"Dear Joe Bloggs we are looking forward to hosting you on your hunt between date x and date y" on a company letterhead.

I must admit I did not think it was for KLM, so I will be watching this space for further comment.

Certainly the above is easy for your outfitter to provide you with.

The invite letter is required to get your permits in RSA, the RSA PHs just have the dates of the hunt, species you plan to hunt, rifles with serial number, amount of ammo and PH's contact info and license numbers. Probably something similar will work for the Dutch Consent form from your PH/Outfitter in any African country.

Good Hunting,

The below link is to the Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC which posts all their current rules and regulations for travel through Amsterdam with firearms and ammunition. Note their suggestion of getting two forms, one for each leg of the travel.
Sincerely,

I have had three clients asked to provide a letter of invitation to hunt before the office will issue the permit. One was traveling to Uganda and the latest two were within the last 10 days and both of them are traveling to Tanzania.

This seems to be a new requirement and has not been posted on the Embassy website or anywhere else, that I was able to find!
