RM007, I have stayed at the Commodore Hotel in Capetown. It is on the waterfront with a great view. They have a walk in safe behind the registration counter where you can store your firearms safely.

I had some gasoline splashed on my canvas rolling duffle in the back of truck when we were leaving Port Elizabeth for the flight to Capetown. I got most off and threw away some clothes. They let it on the plane but were not happy. Pre 911. When we got to the Commodore, the head of housekeeping took the bag to the laundry facilities and they spotlessly cleaned it for me while we went sightseeing for the next day. She then brought it back and said no charge! Needless to say, I insisted on a hefty tip for the staff. Excellent food too.

Enjoy!

Cape Verde Hotel Airport - if you want to stay by the airport.

Table Bay Hotel if you want downtown (on V&A Waterfront, connected to mall), very nice but also pricy.

The Bay hotel if you want the beach (in Camps Bay).

May not be the fanciest/coolest pick but The Westin Cape Town was great.

We ended our honeymoon there and they treated us right. If you can get club access (19th floor) do it, the breakfast was amazing and the views of the bay and table mountain were great in their own right. They had a bottle of champagne waiting in the room for us on arrival, called and made sure we had everything we needed, etc. Was very impressed with the level of service from a "chain" hotel.

If your looking for a dinner spot, uber to Seabreeze fish & shell (if your an oyster fan get there at 5:30 for 10rand/oyster happy hour!)in a really trendy part of town, they had awesome seafood and the conversion rate was silly ( think dinner with drinks, apps, dessert and tip ended up being $40 and i had to be rolled out, a slab of tuna was $10!).

The Radisson Blu is really nice as well. There were a few of us and we got one of the two bedroom suites and enjoyed it a lot. The view and location was fantastic but it was also a but more spendy than the other hotels. It is by the waterfront and a lot of food locations. The best meal I had in Africa was at Belthazar at the waterfront. The game kabab was amazing.

I live in SA and travel to Cape Town on business every month. I can’t recommend the Vineyard hotel enough. In Newlands. Ask for a mountain facing room

The Atlantic View..In Camps Bay. Its a B&B My wife and I loved it, but if only a night you might want something closer to the airport.
