I am headed to the Limpopo area of South Africa in late July. Are there any immunizations or malaria meds needed. I took malaria meds last year in Zimbabwe, but have not hunted in South Africa. Thanks for the help. NRA Patron member

it was my understanding that none was needed for South Africa. Double Rifles, This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as bolt rifle. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age. DRSS Chapuis 9.3x74R NRA Life Member

Well... the above looks to be from the CDC, it lists the same immunizations that would be required/recommended to enter the US. Having said that, you should get a physicians opinion. We have done the hep series and the DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis) They are all shots we should all be current on. Spent time with many from the Limpopo region and near Kruger park area and none have ever said anything about yellow fever (not required from the US) or Malaria (recommended) Your doctor should be the one to ask for advice, but compare it to what is required to enter the US. Depends where, but usually "no" for SA, double check with your PH to be sure. Thanks! I've been to Limpopo multiple times. Took only Larium. No shots arre required. Common sense dictates tetanus, DTaP. Larry Rogers, M.D. Larry Rogers

df06, Be smart. Do a search on the CDC website and take whatever they recommend for your destination. Don't ask your PH or go by any individuals personal recommendation. Taking a chance with adult onset malaria or any of the other tropical diseases is suicidal. Get the right immunizations and take your anti malarial. Mark MARK H.
