Hunting Roe Deer and Boar in Serbia in May. Looking for input on the best travel route / airlines for firearms to Europe.. Go through Frankfurt? I'm looking to see if Paris is an option for flights.. If you remain in transit in Frankfurt (just changing planes) there should nto be any firearms paperwork right? For sure Paris is more complicated than Frankfurt.

That's what I'm thinking. Does anyone know if you still need the firearms permit for 20 Euro that came up in 2013 if your bags are checked through to final destination, meaning same carrier or interline baggage agreement? Frankfurt dropped the transit permit nonsense a couple of years ago. Have been through there several times since and no problems at all with Lufthansa and Swiss Air. Just do the normal "declare" with the airline when you check in. If you can't check luggage/rifle cases all the way through and have to pick them up and re-check in with the follow-on carrier, just make sure you call all the carriers a week or so before you fly and make sure they put in your reservation you'll be carrying firearms and/or ammo.
