My family and hunting buddy have just finished a hunt in Namibia. We have planned to travel to Vic Falls for a couple days, but hear reports of worsening problems in Zimbabwe. Does anybody have recent information about the situation specifically in Vic Falls now? Not planning to travel anywhere else in Zim, or to drive while there.
Thanks
Jeff

Jeffrey: Did you hunt with Jan du Plessis at Sebra Hunting Safaris? If you did, I'd love to see a Hunting Report here on AR. Jan and Mariesje are wonderful people, and I head back for my fourth trip hunting with them in April 2017.

We did hunt with Jan and Mariesje and we had a truly marvelous time. We had good opportunities to take everything from eland to dikdik and our only real concern is how to shed the extra pounds we put on due to our own lack of self control when faced with Mariesje's fantastic meals. We've just gotten back to Windhoek and are sorting ourselves out, so it will be a few days for a more detailed report.

As Jeff said, we are concerned with our prospective trip to Vic Falls over the next few days. It sounds more unstable there by the minute.

Jeffrey,

It sounds like unless you are involved in some sort of protest demonstration your good to go.

Unless, you happen to be standing in the wrong place at the wrong time.

My advice on that one would be don't stand around taking photos... never a good idea in Zim.

Thanks for the tips and updates everyone. We leave for Victoria Falls this morning.

Bud, we had a great hunt. We all took kudu, and I was lucky enough to get an Eland as well. Between us - 3 hunters - we took 21 animals.

It will be a while before I can post a hunt report, but we greatly enjoyed Jan and Mariesje. She is a wonderful cook!

Looking forward to your report, especially the eland, which will be my #1 quarry in April 2017

Check Zambia border post. RSA and Botswana borders post have been closing and reopening as demonstrations heat up and cool down. I think there was an agreement to stop protest as long as Robert paid everyone by Thursday or Friday of this week. Falls are beautiful and I would go. Same rules apply over here, stay away from the protest. I know a good Captain there if you want to go Tiger fishing on the Zambezi. It cost about as much as a boat tour and you see more animals. Any of the hotels will pick you up at border post. I recommend Zambezi River Lode or Elephant Hills. Extremely affordable compared to some of the other older hotels. River Lodge is the best for river tours, fishing and Elephant Hills has a nice golf course. You probably have a higher chance of getting killed by a crock at the River Lodge than any harm from a riot. A guest really did get taken out by a crock last year but the same thing just happened at Disney World.
