Is there a tariff for taking excess on 10k into SA once its declared on the US side?

I would not want to leave the secure areas of the airport after telling anyone there that I had over $10,000 of US cash on me!

Unless my PH was picking me up, and he was going to be armed.

Good point. My buddy told me that he thought there was a 3% tax on anything over 10k.
