My dad, brother and I will be flying from Birmingham(UK) on the 7th July, heading for Zim. We are going via Dubai and i have just read that the flight from Dubai to Harare stops off in Lusaka(Zambia). We do not get off the plane. Can anyone tell me why this is? Is it for re-fueling, surely not??

With kind regards
Mike

Why does a flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta stop at Dallas/Fort Worth?

In a more serious note, some parts of the world require you to stop to pay taxes/duty/tribute for the privilege of over flying their nation.

Mike, because there are not enough passengers just flying to Harare, so it better for them to go to 2 destinations instead of 1. More passangers! That's my own thought by the way!
Happy hunting, maybe we catch up on Zim?

Mike,

Thierry is correct. My first safaris were in Zimbabwe and the London flight to Harare always stopped in Lusaka to drop off passengers and take on a few.

Thanks for that Mark. I can't see the flight being very full even with the stop off in Lusaka.
