I just returned from a successful Mgm't. bull elephant hunt in the Caprivi strip of Namibia. I flew out of JFK due to the fact that I could make a connecting flight without a layover in Joberg if I took the early flight from NY. I was somewhat concerned about flying out of NYC with firearms but it couldn't have been easier.

The only difference from flying out of Atlanta or Dulles was when you check in the airline calls for a NY Port Authority police officer who came over and checked my rifle to make sure it wasn't loaded then walked with me to TSA. On the way back it was just the standard customs clearance stuff. No involvement by NYC police at all.
