Joel, I've done NY to Jo'berg. Nice flight...it lands about 8am or so, enough time to make the day's flights out to Windhoek, Bulawayo, etc. It saves you a night's lodging, and more importantly the rifles travel on with you without SAP involvement. Now coming back as well? Cool!

I have the non-stop from JFK on the way down to Bulawayo in June but have to go through Frankfurt on the way back. Jeez, we have to skip the wonderful delousing in Dakar? Flying JFK-Joberg-Lusaka at the end of august, and I hope this is non-stop both ways as you say. Flew last year non-stop from JFK to Joberg with SAA. Get this...Our flight was delayed because the flight crew was stuck in traffic. How offen does a airline hold a flight for you when you're late? Minus that the flight was very good. Our return flight was suppose to be non-stop but made the interesting stop in Dakar. MSG, USA (Ret.) Armor NRA Life Memeber

Did the JFK to JNB in 2009 and loved it. Landed in JNB early, had a stretch and some breakfast. Bought some capt morgan and cigars and boarded my flight to Bulawayo International Airport. I love visiting and hunting in South Africa but it was nice being able to play right through and not having to stop in Dakar was great. The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense

What equipment are they flying? The A340 wouldn't make it that far back in 2005. Maybe ...nah, they couldn'[t be using their heads and flying 747's again. That was the old SAA who knew what they were doing.

I will not fly SAA as long as black empowerment continues to degrade the quality of ground and flight crews. I find a slightly more inconvenient and/or costly flight easier to tolerate than than dying in an improperly maintained or operated aircraft. DRSS NRA Life Member VDD-GNA

This is great news if true. Being from Maine I always fly from JFK. Coming back I never can decide whether to pop the Ambien prior to Dakar or after. That could be one less decision I have to make.

having flown delta, and enjoying their entertainment system much more than SAA...I will never fly SAA again! I don't mind the layover personally.
