Strong TSA Locks?
Has anyone found a TSA luggage lock that is built like a "real" lock?

Something more substantial than a paper clip?

Les,

The first TSA locks were pretty flimsy but the more recent ones are built much heavier. Personally I'm having good luck with the TSA cable locks. Walmart has a pretty good selection.

Why use them they are not required.
Your gun case e regulations just say any 2 locks.
I have traveled all over never used any TSA locks.
Overseas they just cut them anyways.
They don't have any TSA keys

Because they do facilitate the USA portion of the travel.

And the ones I have used in the past have fallen off, or been pulled off, or the cables have merely rubbed off, or the baggage shppers at JNB have ripped them off.

Not worried about the firearms as they are treted beter everywhere [except here].

But since I need to have locks any way I hope to find some worth having.

[The TSA does not try to find you if they want to look inside. they take the locks off, and then send it on without locks, or, if they cant get the locks off, the bag does not fly.]

You must be much luckier than I am. I have had domestic flight bags opened using the TSA locks about 1/3 of the flights since TSA was invented.

I have had almost EVERY bag to or from Africa opened and or inspected by TSA through the TSA locks since the invention of TSA [only one roundtrip per year]

So I use TSA locks, but I wish they were stonger.

Here you go:

Safe Skies TSA Lock

I used these when heading to South Africa, and then every trip back home. They are very robust, considering how those crappy TSA locks normally look, and they have four numbers in the combination instead of three. Better, but still not as good as a proper Masterlock!

These are the ones I use. The shackle is around 1/4", and so far only the TSA agents have opened my luggage.

We'll see how they perform at Tambo/JNB in July....
