AK145Emirates Firearms Question
When completing the paperwork required by Emirates (required to be submitted a month prior to travel) one of the items required is the "firearms license number". In Alaska, our firearms are not licensed or registered anywhere. Thoughts? What have others submitted in it's place? 4457?

DCS MemberI'm not familiar with that, but it could just be serial number.
I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills.

MJinesOn the last application Travel with Guns did for me, they simply listed "Customs 4457" in that field. When the permit was issued it shows "NA" for the license number. So that is what worked at least once. That was for a trip last February.

MARK H. YOUNGAK145,
Please know that Emirates can refuse to carry your guns without giving any reason. It happened to a couple of Gracy's clients last season. Not trying to rain on your parade but do make sure that your safari operator has good loaner guns just in case. I know that several AR folks have used Emirates without a hassle so you may be fine.

MJinesFor what it is worth . . . I have done Emirates four or five times now to Zim with zero issues. Obviously, others may have a different experience.

LionHunterI've flown Emirates 4 of my past 5 safaris since 2011. No issues with Emirates, although Dubai was concerned about my black tipped bullets on one flight.
BTW, I am now using Travel With Guns for all my bookings as DIY after 21 safaris is just too difficult and time consuming with all the new country permit/license requirements.

AK145I appreciate the responses. I thought about having Travel with Guns take care of the paperwork...but since I am traveling on airline miles(TWG did not book our tickets obviously) they can't do the gun paperwork.
Soooo...still kicking around the difference between taking my own gun or renting one.

AK145Since 2003 I have only bow hunted in RSA so this gun thing is kinda new for me. Doing a hunt in the East Cape this trip, touring Cape Town before the hunt.

Call and talk with TWG's. I book with miles yet for a nominal fee they will sometimes help with things like paperwork if needed.

AK145I already did, they would not help me because I did not purchase my tickets through them. No biggie...I will get it figured out. Our booking agent/outfitter will square us away with RSA permits and stuff. I was just curious about the Emirates angle...which sounds like as long as the paperwork is in check all should be good. I hope...
