Thinking of taking my CZ 9.3x62 FS to Africa. My concern is that the forestock gets broken during travel. What are your experiences? Part of me thinks that the wrist is more vulnerable than the fore-end, but I have no experience.

I've been overseas many time and breakage of firearms has never been an issue. In a quality gun case, it won't be an issue and I hunt with moderately nice double rifles. Here is what I do: 1. full insurance coverage that includes travel 2. quality gun case--I use SKB as TuffPaks are a pain to unpack if you want one item and it is probably at the bottom. 3. I disassemble the rifle so it is as short as possible. 4. I remove the scope and carry it and my binocs in my carryon. 5. I pad the rifle with clothes or in a soft case within the hard case. 6. Carry extra locks. I have taken that exact rifle to Africa twice. I packed it in a Boyt canvas case inside a Tuffpak, and I had no problems with it whatsoever.

Pelican case has worked for me. It looks like it's been through hell on the outside now, but never a problem on the inside. Be sure the vent is open.
