looks like i'm going to be working in Nigeria for a while on a rotation basis. I've never been before. Anyone with any expierience there as far as conditions i.e security? Work will be based out of Lagos but the majority of the actual time will be spent offshore (oilfield related)

Thanks for any help

I spent about a week on Bonny Island which is off the coast of Nigeria. As I remember, we flew into Port Harcourt (sp?)from Paris. It is a little intimidating until you become familiar with the system. On the way in I generally "tipped" what was neded to get through the situation but on the way out I just said that all I had was $1. Thugs are everywhere and we had body guards when we were not at the jobsite or inside the compound.

It is a very complicated political situation and I am sympathetic to the woes of the common Nigerian citizen. I believe that most people in the world are good and the ones that are not I do not deal with.

Good luck and be safe.
