My wife will be spending Saturday in Dubai and was interested in going to the gold and spice souk. Any advice on things to beware of or advice on negotiating would be greatly appreciated.

I always found prices fair. Walk away and if the seller follows you then there is room for negotiation.

We have a specific market for fakes.

And the prices are so rediculously low anyone thinking that they are buying the genuine article they need their heads examined!

A gold Rolex for 50 Dollsrs anyone? clap

Thanks to all for the advice. My wife wasn't thinking about buying one of those Rolexes handcrafted by a Chinese juvenile.

She is planning on going to the aquarium, the Burj Khalifa and then a subway ride to the gold, perfume, and spice souks in Deira. Maybe some time at the Mall of the Emirates if time allows.

She flies out to Prague Sunday morning so really only has a short layover in Dubai.

Thanks again.

You may have to book a ticket to go up the Burj.

I turned up and couldn’t get a ticket!

Burn Khalifa always requires a booking in advance.

The aquarium in Dubai Mall you can get in without a booking.

Very true Dave.

But it seems on most days one has to book in advance to make sure they do get a ride.

I was there during Ramadan and the place didn’t seem overly busy. Quiet actually. Still couldn’t get a ticket.

We always make it a point to book early when we have visitors wishing to go up Burj Khalifa.

And sometimes we cannot actually get the day we want!

Guess I was lucky. It was impressive, I liked the models of construction progress of the way out. Is it true that a taller building is in the works?

Apparently that might be true.

Also, I understand Saudi Arabia is planning one quite a bit taller!!

You won’t catch dead living in one of these!
