Anyone driven to Victoria Falls from Windhoek? We are thinking about doing a round trip from Windhoek going to Vic Falls and then down through Botswana. Anybody's experiences would be helpful. Contact Albert Voigts von Schutz at Nomtsas Safaris. We just had a fantastic hunt on his family's farm in Southern Namibia, but Albert's main business is touring. He has done all up and down the Caprivi Strip all the way to Vic falls many times and has a great deal of experience. Albert has a delightful personality and he would be glad to help you, even if you are not looking for a guided trip. Write him at albert@nomtsas.com and tell him that Steve from Texas sent you.

Don, As advised get a touring guide. I think you'll have less hassle and way more fun. Mark MARK H. Here is someone else to contact: Ndandi Safaris I hunted with Thorsten two years ago and he has touring business as well. Thorsten is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. That's a long trip and he could likely arrange some hunting in between those two points to help break it up. "...Africa. I love it, and there is no reason for me to explore why. She affects some people that way, and those who feel as I do need no explanation." from The Last Safari

Now and again you will see me taking that trip from WHK to Vic.-Falls. If you push it you can do it in less than two days, however I would advise you to take your time and spend at least four days for the way up. First leg up to Otavi/Grootfontein area. (guestfarm/lodge) Second leg to Rundu (Lodge e.g. Kaisosi Lodge or a bit further on the Mahangu Lodge near Andara / Bagani ) Third one on to Katima (You might aswell drive town towards "Horse Shoe Bend" or Lianshulu Lodge. Fourth one over Vic-Falls Easy ridin! regs Kamaatu

Thanks for the responses everyone. We are planning on doing about 10 days of traveling after our hunt, and really hadn't planned on hiring a guide. We're renting a 4x4 with alll camping gear, and will be traveling from lodging to lodging and also camping a few nights. Is it really that risky to need a guide for the entire trip? ______________________ I don't shoot elk at 600 yards for the same reasons I don't shoot ducks on the water, or turkeys from their roosts.
