My wife and I want to tour Namibia in February 2010, we want to see whatever there is to see of this beautiful country. We are both nature lovers and I am a hunter and fisherman as well.

This past March, I hunted PG on the Gras Ranch. In March of 2011 I will return there to hunt eland and waterbuck for a week or so. Prior to my hunt, my wife and I intend to tour the country plus we want to see Victoria Falls.

Prior to my hunt, we can spend up to 4 weeks touring if that is what is required to see all the sights without ever feeling rushed or in a hurry. We plan to tour in February.

Any suggestions, recommendations, etc. would be hugely appreciated. We will be staying in lodges, or something similar, as opposed to camping.

Does anyone recommend booking with The Cardboard Box?

respectfully,
Bobby B.

Bobby B.,

If I could spend 4 weeks traveling around Namibia, I would. Take advantage of it. Four weeks will give you time to park it in certain areas and take short day trips here and there and spend more time in areas you find you enjoy. I didn't have that pleasure. We had a schedule we had to keep to with little flexibility. The only thing I am unsure about is the time of the year you are traveling. It will be hot and possibly quite rainy.

I had not luck with the Cardboard Box but others on this forum have had luck with them. I really think it was because I did not rent my vehicle through them. If you can get them to reply to you, I would imagine they can be helpful with planning with regards to weather at that time of the year. Certainly the rental car agency can help you in that regard.

Good luck,

George

Namibia is an awesome country and has a great deal to offer the visitor. I took my family around there a few years ago over the period of about 4 weeks. Windhoek has a number of great sites, etosha, walvis bay also have plenty to see. Without a doubt tho the skeleton coast and Swakopmund were our favourites. The fishing is phenomenal and the sights are out of this world. Try and find places which are slightly smaller than the big tourist lodges. We met some amazing people staying at small family run lodges which abound all over the country.

Hope you have a great time
