I am flying business on Qatar Airways. I have an overnight connection in Doha (10:55 PM to 8:05 AM). Any suggestions for hotels?

The Oryx Hotel in the airport is probably your best bet. It was booked full when I was there a couple weeks ago, so I stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which is the closest hotel to the airport. It was good, about a 15 minute drive. The Oryx will be my preference in the future though, as you don’t leave the airport.

Be sure to have all your health and COVID information pre-loaded and approved on their EHTERAZ app ahead of time if you’re going to leave the airport. It can take quite a while to leave the airport if you’re not pre-approved through EHTERAZ.

+1 on the Oryx. There are actually two Oryx airport hotels, one is in the airport and the other is offsite. Make sure you are booking the one in the airport.

The airline does not offer you free accommodation on transit?

Unless Qatar has changed their policy in the past few months, they do provide accommodations as well as transportation to and from the hotel for those flying business class. We’ve taken advantage of this benefit 3 times, stress-less transport to and from, but I found the TSA type security at the hotel a bit odd.

Yes, but much easier and saves a bunch of time just to book a room at the airport hotel. Walk from the gate to the hotel, check in and be in your room in 30 minutes; same process in the morning. Doing the offsite option adds at least an hour on the front end and back end.

I will have to check into that. I have never had an overnight layover and wasn't aware of this possibility.

Thanks,
Charles

The Oryx Airport in-transit hotel has nice dark quiet rooms.
