When I have flown to or through Heathrow with firearms, I have used Kathi Klimes as my travel agent (she posts here on AR as Kathi).

You must notify BA that you will be traveling with a firearm and that fact must be duly noted in the right places, including in BA's computer system. Kathi makes sure that all of that is covered.

Knock wood, but I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with BA or the folks at Heathrow. In fact, my experiences with BA in London have been better than even some domestic flights I've taken here in the USA.

Check here: http://www.shakariconnection.c...l-with-firearms.html

NOTE!!!!!! that BA require 72 hours notice that you'll be travelling with SPORTING FIREARMS and I suggest you have that fact noted in th comments section of your booking when you make it etc.

It's all in the link buddy. Smiler

I'm not sure that I'd tell someone in London that my final destination with a firearm is Zimbabwe.

In London if you have to switch airports for your flights I believe you have to have a registered courier to transport your rifles from one airport to the other.

Good Hunting,

Huh?

Last time I checked my atlas, neither Frankfurt nor Windhoek was in Zimbabwe.

Sorry... I guess I have to read better. Having 19 days to Zimbabwe and elephants, I just think all roads (or airlines) lead there.

At least I'm a fairly good-hearted old fart and I mean little harm. Mea Culpa!

couple notes - make sure you have a bit of time in london to transfer because you change terminals, they will charge you 450 (WAS THIS IN AUGUST 09) for your gun, but, they hand carry it onto the airplane and put it in a safe, so baggage handlers become nonexistent. we had them charge us another 50 for ammo, but they latter refunded this. on the way back they had room so they just kicked us up to business class, without our even asking. overall BA was wonderful, and london was no sweat
