A group of us will be heading to Newfoundland late September early October for moose, bear and fishing. Has anyone flown into Gander this time of year from Atlanta? If so which routes did you fly and did you overnight in Montreal, Toronto or anywhere else with rifles?

We’re having difficulty finding flights.

Avoid Toronto like they had the plague. Route yourself thru Halifax. It is much easier.

I’ve taken rifles to Newfoundland 4 or 5 times. We overnighted in Gander, Mark is giving good advice about trying to avoid Toronto, officials there seemed to have a bad attitude. Firearms permitting was simple, but they didn’t get in any hurry.

as others said avoid toronto if you can ... few years ago we went for a national training event with handguns in toronto and that was a show that you cant even imagine ... police was involded as everybody was freaking out that civilians can even own them ... knowing the gang problems they have there ... luckily trudeau is saving us and soon it will no more a problem ...

good luck on your hunt as others said avoid toronto if you can.

Last September we flew LaGuardia-Montreal-Deer Lake & back.
Outbound fairly uneventful, inbound not so much.
Since LaGuardia isn’t an International airport, we had to clear firearms in Montreal. Between the line of hunters and the ineptitude of Customs staff, I don’t think 3 hours is enough for your firearms to make the connection ( ours didn’t). YMMV.
