Am going on a plains game hunt in May and plan to take a 300 ultra mag for larger game as was wondering if I could take a Weatherby 22-25 for the really small game. Other option is a 375 h&h... Bob Welcome to AR. Yes, you should be able to. Just add it on your SAPS paperwork. Also check with your outfitter or PH. PM sent also. Larry | |||

check with your outfitter, some land owners will not accept 22 cal, some ordinances stipulate 6mm as the smallest legal caliber. I would go the 30 and 375 route, the 375 with solids does considerably less pelt damage on the smaller animals. Bob, The problem with the 22-250 is that the velocity is so high, that it just rips the small ones apart. You did not mention what small game you are going after, so if you could state that, maybe we'll be able to help you better. A better option will be the .375 with solids, trying to shoot them a little farther back for a lung shot as oppose to breaking the shoulder. Those solids just punch a hole through them, with little damage to the capes. Nonetheless, hope that you have a great time , and don't forget to report back with photos of your trip.
