We are headed to Namibia next week and are taking a new Ipad as a gift/tip to the PH. Will there be any issues leaving it boxed up in the original packaging and having it on our carry-on?

Their 3G is different.

On my last trip I sat beside a young man who was bringing two Ipads back home (RSA), availability and cost differences made them an incredible bargain.

It is a great tip, whether he keeps it or passes it along.

I left local cell sticks/sims behind and they were welcome.

Importation taxes may be due if it is in the box.

I wouldn't worry about any taxes. Just don't tell them you are leaving it as a gift.
