Iberia, the Spanish flagship company, is charging since May 6th, 150€ (~US$235) per gun case (regardless if there is one or two guns in the same case) EACH WAY.

The cost is absolutely outrageous and unnacceptable. In the case of domestic flights, or flights to other European destinations, the gun fee at 300€ could mean more than the cost of the ticket itself.

Like many other I already have my ticket to Jo'burg for August. Many hunters worldwide use Iberia to Jo'burg where they fly locally to other destinations. When I bought it, this fee did not exist and now I will have to pay it since they won't give me my money back, either!

I am writing an email to Iberia's customer service telling how unfair and discriminating this measure is and telling them I will never ever again use Iberia. Maybe you could give us a hand with this.

I'm no expert at Spanish jurisprudence, but when you bought your ticket you and the airline executed a contract. Whatever the terms of the contract at the time, it can only be changed by mutual consent of the TWO parties. In other words, if there was no charge for guncases when you bought your ticket, you should not be charged for a gun case when you take your flight, so long as the flight has been booked and paid for prior to the change in policy.

This is the practice that all of the airlines are making in the U.S. when they institute a new charge, whether for baggage or other services. Whatever was included under your ticket when you purchased it is still included. Their notices of new charges usually say something like "For tickets purchase after (this date), XYZ charges will apply".

Only an e-mail for something this serious? Sure, it's cheap and easy, but I doubt you'll get the desired effect that a posted letter would bring.

The fact that I am asking direct hlep from the public in AR reloading does not imply that that is the only thing beiong done, nor that I am the only one promoting action against Iberia in my country.
