Hey gang,
I have a friend in SA that wants me to come over and hunt with him on a his friends farm. Just a time to hang out and shoot some critters. It has been since 2005 since I have hunted in SA. Ithought I read somewhere on here that teh SAP would require an invitation from the PH I hunt with in order to register my rifle. IS this true? Also is this true in the case of transit thru to Zim or Nam?

The SA Police asked us for our invitation letter last year. We were heading to Namibia and overnighting at Africa Sky. We had one from our outfitter in Namibia but not in our packet of paper work for SA.

Brent,

If you have not been in Africa since '05 I highly recommend you use one of the travel agents like Gracy Travel, Kathi Klimes or Steve Turner that specialize in travel to Africa with guns. They will line you out on everything you need.

If you "enter" RSA you will need to go through the SAPS process to get your gun permit and that will require a letter of invitation from you PH regardless of final destination. If you check your luggage all the way through to your final destination which I don't recommend you can avoid the SAPS process.
