Hi all,

Going to SA next year and read somewhere that some African Countries don't allow Camoflauge Clothing?

I have a Camoflauge rucksack that I fancied taking, anyone know if that might cause problems?

Cheers

Kyle

Kyle,

Your rucksack will not be a problem. In most places hunter camo is no problem in the bush. Don't wear it on airplanes as you will definitely attract a bunch of attention that you don't want.

No problem in SA. But heed Mark's advice and be as low key as possible.

You really don't need camo at all. I carried a camo daypack, but only because I couldn't find it in green or brown. Camo is basically a con. A very successful con, at that. Camo is for snipers and combat soldiers and whitetail bowhunters, even though Ben Pearson and Fred Bear shot a trainload of animals without using any. My PH wore a white bush vest and it didn't seem to bother the buffalo at all.

My PH is a firm believer in Camo, I asked him if there was anything I could pick up in North America and bring with me and th one thing he aked for was warm camo clothes.

No problem wearing camo in SA. But, comfort is the key. I didn't wear any camo on any of my hunts and it wasn't a problem at all. Remember, your guide (PH) and tracker probably won't be wearing much of any camo either. Comfortable, durable clothes and zip off leggings on the pants were the key for me. And real comfortable boots. Good luck on your hunt.
PS - look at a the photos of guys who have hunted over there. Pay special attn to the ones who state that it was not their first safari.
