If you're interested in hunting or visiting South Africa between October and March, there are some very cheap fares right now. I got a fare alert from Scott's Cheap Flights, advertising lots of low fares to Joberg and Cape Town. So I went to Google Flights and found fares from San Francisco for this November as low as $660 round trip.

I'm not going, but thought some of you might be interested.

Off season always has the lowest fares. I'm going to Namibia in April because of the great airline deals then.

When I checked AA’s website, all PHL to JNB flights went through Heathrow with a long layover and plane change to BA.

If Saeed's favorite airlines offered that rate I would use them.

23 round trip flights to various parts of Africa on most major airlines and the only glitch other than late bags was with KLM. Got trapped on the tarmac for 12 hrs in Amsterdam after needing to return due to non working equipment after 1/3 of flight to DAR was behind us. THEY ALL SUCK!

If you look at website closely you will find it is on BA equipment, not AA.

The prices I was looking at end of July are double or more of what I am looking at in October. I can shoot a handful more trophies for what I will save. Smiler

Code share and alliances have done nothing to improve air travel.

One of the worst airline alliances is STAR ALLIANCE!

Given a choice, I will not travel on any of member airlines that belongs to Star Alliance!

Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand are part of the Star Alliance.

South African Airways has a direct flight from Dulles, to Joberg for $989.00 which is dirt cheap. Last time I went over, a few years back, it was about $500 more than that. Can't complain.
