Does anyone know the rules on carrying more than 2 firearms per case to Africa? I think I can get all 4 of my rifles in my tuffpak, just curious if it's allowable by the airlines.

You can put as many rifles in the case as long as it doesn't exceed the weight limits, I have carried two rifles in one case before, and have seen a case with three rifles which would probably bring it to the limit. The only bad thing about packing multiple rifles is they could possibly hit each other, even through the foam padding.

Depending on which country you are traveling to, there are limits on the number of rifles you can bring in. For most African countries I believe the max. is three rifles and they have to be of different calibers.

On my Last trip to Zim through Joberg I took 2 rifles a drilling and a handgun. My wife took 4 rifles and a drilling.
We used 3 tuffpaks, 2 standard and one take down. When I go back I will take 2 tuffpaks even if I only take 2 rifles. i will put a rifle in each.
i would not want to have 4 rifles in one case. I would much rather have 2 guncases so even if one got loat or misplaced I could still hunt with my own guns.
Besides I do not think you could make the 50 lb weight limit with 4 rifles in one case.

Just returned from Zim via Jo'berg. We carried a Tuffpak with three rifles with no problems. We have taken this same configuration to Namibia, South Africa and New Zealand all with no problems from either the airlines or the authorities. The case with three scoped rifles weighted 24 Kg on this last trip.
Thanks for the comments. My thoughts are if I can get them all in one case it obviously would make travel less difficult. Contents would be 1 scoped .300 Win rifle, Chapuis SXS 9.3, 270 FWT. Win, no scope and little .22 bolt rifle. I believe it would be under 50 lbs. total. Unless I hear or read it is illegal, I'm going to try.

Check your Airlines website. I know Amerianc Airlines you are only allowed 3 Firearms per case.

Some airlines (Delta, as an example) have a rule of no more than two long guns per case. I cannot possibly speculate as to the rationale behind this. Delta also limits passengers to no more than 5 (!) handguns per case. Delta also specifies that the silencers (!) for each gun may also be carried in the same case. Delta does not specify what happens if you mix handguns and long guns. Go figure. Of course, Delta's application and enforcement of this policy is totally dependent on the baggage agent knowing and understanding the policy, which is truly a remote possiblility.
At any rate, there is no TSA rule limiting the number of firearms in a single case. So, check the website of the airline(s) on which you are traveling, and check any restrictions of the country to/through which you will be traveling.

I took 4 rifles in my SKB case on Delta and SAA and had no problems. They checked to see that they were unloaded and made me put the little red card in the case but otherwise they could not have cared less. But I would check their regs and go with whatever they say. It would suck pretty bad to have to leave 2 of your rifles at the airport.

When we packed our guns in the Tufffpack there was no way of getting any more than three in there without exceeding the 50 # weight limit. We had two Ruger #1's that were 10+ pounds each and a light weight Remington bolt that was 7 pounds. Along with two lightweight soft jackets to pad the guns in their soft cases and keep them from moving around we barely squeaked by at the limit.
