Can anyone please confirm the power adapter types most prevalent in Zim. My research shows that they should be either type D or G (see link below). Just want to make sure I have the right US to Zim adapters to be able to charge my iphone/ipad (yes there is going to internet connectivity in camp!). Any insight would be appreciated.

I've used the below converter in several countries in Europe, South Africa and Zimbabwe with success. It is available by searching ebay and costs about $5 including shipping.

You may want to take a regular cigarette lighter charger, too. I often charge cameras, cell phones, etc. while riding around the bush checking baits or looking for elephant/buffalo tracks.

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

You may find that the most useful charger is one which simply plugs into the universal cigar lighter receptacle on any type of automobile, jeep, or ATV built in the last forty years. It will almost certainly be 12VDC negative ground. And the DC-type chargers usually charge a device more quickly than AC-type chargers.

If you're not sure the vehicle(s) in camp will be equipped with a working lighter receptacle, then take a female receptacle along equipped with alligator clips you can simply tie directly to a 12V battery.

Incidentally, it is usually not necessary to step-down the voltage from 240 to 120 when using an AC charger for most cameras, phones, computers, etc. Most are equipped to use any voltage within this range, but be sure to check your owners manual before zapping something with more voltage than it was designed for.

Camps generally have a multi socket strip, that accepts many different plugs.

May I also suggest you take one or two USB charging batteries.

You can use these anytime after they have been charged when the generator is running.
