I am on Delta flight on June 28th to JNB then to Windhoek on the 29th. I know you can have your ammo in checked baggage on Delta flight in regular box but do you have to have a locked box for the SAA flight or is it the same. SAA ploicy seems very unclear.

Anyone experience this yet?

I've had no problems with having the ammo in a regular box on SAA. They only checked my ammo upon leaving the country and then only to see if the weight restriction was exceeded. I guarantee there was less ammo weight upon leaving the country than on arrival. Silly boys.

Ray, these asked me if the ammo was in the original mfg box or seperate. They quickly (3 seconds) looked at my federal boxes and said that is fine. The guy in front of me that handload and had ammo in his custom boxes had alot of issues with the attendant.
