I stayed at Africa Sky House - good food and lodging. Close to airport and they will handle firearms transfer. They have a hunter package - should cost $275

I've stayed at the Afton House a couple of times and was happy with it.

If you want to stay at or near the airport, City Lodge is my recommendation. Reasonable rates, too.

I will be staying at City Lodge on the 4th. Very convenient if you get in late and leave early. It is very well run and breakfast is included. There are more eateries in the adjoining mall. Their # if you want to call direct is +27 (0)11 5527600. Where are you headed after that?

We normally stay at Emperors Palace. There are several accommodation price options, a free transfer bus from the airport and many good dinning and entertainment (Movie Theatre/Casino) options without leaving the complex. The bus ride is only 5-10 minutes.

Billsan,

Unless you want to leave the airport and fool with a shuttle to and from off airport lodging use the City Lodge right in the airport. It is always my recommendation.

Africa Sky, the fee is worth it alone for the help clearing rifles. Facility is clean, food is good, and the place is barely ten minutes from the airport.

Ditto on Africa Sky. I took the Gun Permit Package. Accommodations and food were outstanding.
We were greeted at the airport, gun permits obtained and driven to African Sky. (10 minutes away)
The next morning we were driven back to the airport and our driver stayed with us from check-in to the first check point.

I usually catch a shuttle to the birch wood. About $100 a night, clean and secure with a Spurs Steakhouse in the adjoined parking lot.
