That's great news, we waited till we arrived in Tete in 2018 to pick up ours, didn't really take that long, bit of a cluster like everything else involving African officials

That is good news, the last two trips we stood around Biera for hours trying to get a visa, they had a "new" Visa system...but no one knew how to use it! Photo of my Visa below Eeker

Of course they collected the fee. And tried to “tax” me on ammo brought into Moz.

They transposed the number on my friends bolt rifle and said they where going to seize it, we paid a tax on our ammo, and when we came out left it all there, the policeman asked we where it was, I said shot it all up and left the brass in the bush

Visa exemptions should be reciprocated.

Saeed, Hardly any countries reciprocate on Africa visa exemptions..... I wonder why?

But great news re Moz and I understand from a business colleague in Maputo that this is already stimulating travel numbers. Good thing.

Has anyone traveled there under this new policy? The Moz US Embassy website still has the old visa rules posted. We will be travelling there in October.

We will be traveling to Moz mid-June, e-Visa can only be requested within 30 days of arrival in Moz, will be making our application in about 10 days. I’ll post our experience afterward.

E Visa applications for Moz submitted today, only took about 40 minutes do complete 2 applications, supposedly have visa within 5 days if approved. Easy…however, one requirement is proof of financial ability to support oneself for the duration of your stay. Online sources stated they wanted copies of 3 months bank statements. No way in hell were we going to send copies of bank statements to anyone, much less Mozambique. A call to their consulate revealed that they “should” accept a copy of a credit card statement, plus cash declared upon entry. We sent CC info with all account numbers blacked out. Should know within 5 days if that was sufficient. tu2

Years ago I was trying to buy something from an English company.

They asked for my credit card statement.

Wrote back to them and asked for their bank account, the managers birth certificate, his employment contract, and how much is being paid.

Got an answer back asking if I was kidding.

I wrote back and said certainly not.

I just wanted details of the idiot running the companies details just in case he comes looking for a job after he gets fired!

Got nothing back!

Got up this morning and had “preliminary visa” in my email, to be presented upon arrival for actual visa. Pretty quick.

For those traveling to Mozambique, we received an email today stating a visa was no longer required for entry into Moz for those traveling on a US passport. I looked at the Moz immigration website and it appears this is correct, you must have a return ticket, hotel or other board reservation and a tax fee equivalent to MZN 650 in cash (currently $10.17)…but we already have our EVisa, so should be OK.

Wondering what a "reservation" actually is? We are staying with SA friends who have a camp on the beach.

An invite letter from an outfitter will work and I suppose a similar letter from whomever you are staying with would work as well.

In theory this should be pretty straightforward and make entry quicker and easier. In practice, not a damn thing has changed (at Beira, at least).
We already had gotten an eVisa, which was supposed to cut the wait, form filling, etc. We arrived at Beira and they knew absolutely nothing about an eVisa (even though there was a poster explaining the process posted about 10 inches beside the officer. The eVisa had all of the info they want on their little unreadable form and includes a passport photo.
We were still handed the little form to fill out, but a different officer said our eVisa would suffice. Still had to wait almost 2 hours to get the stamp in our passports (we had been told by embassy personnel that entry would be as simple as produce the eVisa and our passports would be stamped “VOE” and we would be done…nope).
So, this isn’t such an improvement, yet.
There were about 9 people needing visas on our flight and when we left 2 1/2 hours later there were still 4 people trying to get visas.

Been awhile but I remember paying some service in NYC to expedite our Mioz Visa and we had to send them our passports. Didn't like that idea at all.

That said, the trip to the Niassa Reserve was worth the price of admission.

Thanks for the report Karl. I'll be arriving through Vilankulos in late September. Hopefully things smooth out a bit before then.

Not about Moz, but just got through filling out visa application for Tanzania and it's a royal PIA.
They asked the dates of my last visit to Tanzania.
No problem, that's on the passport. Then they asked for the NUMBER of my last Tanzania visa. Now that would be easy because prior to the pandemic, they affixed a visa to a page in your passport, but I went last during the pandemic and visas were electronic. So I have no idea what the number was.

Good for Moz eliminating it.
