I was pricing airfare yesterday for 3 people from Atlanta to Johannesburg and the price was over $2000 a person. That is a big change from when we went last year. This was directly with the airlines.

Has anyone found it cheaper with a travel agency? If so who.

Also I thought I saw something about a direct USA to Cape Town flight, is this true?

Thanks.

We went through Gracey, about a month or so, ago. Our Delta ATL-JHB tickets are just under $1800 each.

I've experienced the same thing with United.

The best fare I can get IAD-JNB-IAD on their website is over $ 4,000. My travel agent the lovely Brigitte (not Gracy, just our corporate agent) had no problem getting it for $ 1950.

I was considering getting a United credit card for the miles, but the way it works is you have to book FROM THEIR WEBSITE (at twice the going rate) and then apply for reimbursement.

Screw them.

It appears that Delta is flying/or going to fly from JFK to CPT asKathi reports here!

It is hard to get their computer to give you a price though.

The prices vary significantly from high and low seasons. if you go early or late in the hunting season you will save several hundred dollars each.

You really need to call Gracy or Kathi or one of the other specialists.

Not from Atlanta but I'm leaving for Windhoek in a day and a half on a fare that I paid $1598 for. The flight takes me from Portland to IAD to JNB to WDH. I bought my tickets about 6 months ago, and I'm going when no one else wants to go. Maybe that's why they're cheaper than the $2000 you've been quoted.

Get that sundowner ready - I'm on my way!

Just my two cents. United scare lines has a added few routs from JFK and ATL. This might lessen the financial burden to us hunters. There are always DHL’s flights but I do not believe they are advertising them. Wrapped in a tarp looses some of the ambience of air travel however. About $2150 is the best I can find from CVG to WDH and that is thru Cheapoair..
