I talked to my PH about an up coming trip and asked if there was anything in the States I could bring him. He asked if I could pick up an inexpensive laptop computer because they are very pricy over there.

Are there any Customs issues with this in South Africa?

Only if you declare it.

That is sort of what I thought, I just wanted get some input from those that did similar things in the past.

We've done exactly what you are proposing twice and had no problems even though one was still in original packaging...of course we didn't volunteer that we were leaving the computers in SA.

unwrap it throw it in your carry on a forget it know one will ask anything. I have taken mine to and from Africa five times.Just don't take two of them they might ask why .

Well, we will be taking two but my wife and I are both going and are each always busy with work....
