Ok so I am a Pilgram, and after reading this whole thread I still wonder what is correct. Can I put the locked ammo case in a Red Oxx duffle along with clothes? Or do I have to check the ammo case (again locked) seperatly? I think I understand that I can't put the locked ammo case in the Tuff Pak with the rifles. TSA lock on ammo case? The Tuff Pak is not TSA and I think that is how it should be. Or does it just change like the wind? Many Thanks HBH

I would say ammo in a locked case in your duffle (I've used TSA locks with zero problems). Now, if you are going through Durban or Port Elizabeth be prepared to take the ammo case out and check it separately.

This isn't a new thing at JNB. When I was over in 2000, I took a carry-comped delta elite colt, 5 mags and around 200rds. I checked it all the way in from Tulsa to JNB and had no problems. When I was leaving and flying back SAA from JNB, they told me I couldn't have my pistol (locked in a hard case) and my ammo (locked in a hardcase) locked in my checked luggage. I had to take the pistol and ammo, in thier seperate locked cases to the gun room and purchase a gun bag to get them on the plane. when I got to atlanta they were there waiting for me and had to be placed back in my checked luggage in order to go on the plane back to Tulsa. My advice is just remember, it's their country. Roll with it, it's Africa. Enjoy the experience.
