The Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will next month launch a direct flight between London and Bulawayo, zimbabwe’s second-largest city.

In an exclusive statement to Sunday News, Ethiopian Airlines said:

We’re also delighted to announce that Ethiopian Airlines will start a direct flight to the vibrant city of Bulawayo effective from 30 October, and we believe this will make a breakthrough for the growth of economy and tourism of the city and reduce inconveniences of customers transiting to other cities for connection purposes.

Ethiopian Airlines is the fastest growing airline in Africa and envisages reaching 120 international destinations worldwide by the year 2025.

Zimbabwe has witnessed increased interest from various airlines in recent years, with some, including Emirates, increasing flight frequency while others, including Germany’s Eurowings Discover airline and RwandAir, have also entered the country’s air market.

By direct, do they mean non stop or no plane change in Addis? I suspect the latter.

From what I’ve read here, an hour and a half layover in Addis isn’t workable if traveling with a gun. In fact, with LHR being such a mess as far as on time departures, I wouldn’t risk it without a gun.

And it is NOT direct by any stretch of the imagination.

Direct, to me, means you hop in at your airport, and land at your destination.

Jumping through two other airports it is not.

Plus, for Americans you’ve got to get to and through LHR, with their gun restrictions.

Would a hunter be able to bring firearms since it is a flight from Britain to Zimbabwe?

I flew with Ethiopian Airlines in July of this year and it was a nightmare. I flew from ORD to Addis, connecting directly to WDH. Loading of passengers at ORD took well over an hour, resulting in a late arrival in Addis. When I talked with one of the flight attendants about missing my flight to WDH, she assured me they’d hold the flight for us. I even checked with the Senior Flight Attendant and she also lied to me. When I tried to run to the departing WDH flight, it had already left. EA put me up at a flea bag hotel and since they had no direct flights to WDH the next day, I had to fly to JoBerg, wait 5 hours then fly to WDH, arriving at 7:55 PM. I then had a 6 hour drive to Kamanjab for my hunt arriving at 2:00 AM. Only pluses with EA were good leg room seating, free first run movies and female flight attendants who looked like Halle Berry’s kid sister. The airport in Addis is utter chaos, with huge lines, security checks followed by another security check 15 minutes later and no Air Conditioning. The drive to the hotel was about 4-5 miles and the entire roadside was wall to wall Muslim women begging in traffic. The lunch food at the hotel consisted of cold squash, cold green beans and cold potatoes. The hotel dinner was hot squash, hot green beans and hot potatoes- no meat whatsoever. My bus ride back to the Addis airport left at 6:30 AM so it made for a long nightmare of a travel experience.
