What type of locks should I be putting on my gun case and ammo case. The last time I traveled internationally for a hunt, 3 years ago, I had a regular pad lock on my gun case. This was for a waterfowl trip up to Canada. Should I be using the TSA locks for my gun case, or a regular key-type pad lock? I have been looking at the 4 dial TSA combination locks. These locks do not appear very,...robust. However I guess if someone really wants our rifles they will steal the case, and open later. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Go Duke!!

I recommend regular locks for the gun case as I understand TSA regs you are the only one that is to be able to open the case. On the ammo case I guess that the TSA locks will do as I assume the ammo case will be in your checked luggage. Good Hunting,

No TSA locks for guncases!!! As stated above, TSA regs state that only you are to have the key or combo, which you give to TSA agent at the time of inspection and which they then return to you. Using TSA locks is about as effective as leaving it unlocked to begin with. Your duffle that contains your ammo box should be treated the same; secure it with a non-TSA lock. This also adds protection to your clothes and gear and is in accordance with TSA guidance for ammunition transport.
