Keep your eyes on the sky. The particles from a solar flare are supposed to arrive at earth on Friday. Another report said it should be stronger in the southern hemisphere. So for the next few days when you are sitting by the fire having your evening cold one or heading out in the morning to hunt take a look up. Mark http://www.space.com/12530-sol...n-lights-friday.html Quote…..Those who look to the skies on Friday (Aug. 5) may see exceptional auroras thanks to a strong solar flare that hurled a cloud of plasma toward Earth earlier this week. The solar flare occurred yesterday (Aug. 2) when an intense magnetic event above sunspot 1261 blasted out a flow of charged particles that's now headed toward Earth, according to SpaceWeather.com, a website that monitors space weather. This could unleash a geomagnetic storm here on our planet that might disrupt satellite and radio communications. The plus side, though, is that skywatchers at high latitudes can expect extra-special aurora borealis displays, also known as the Northern Lights, from the interaction of these charged particles with Earth's magnetic field. I had too much to drink with Martin Pieters and Cliff Walker at Buster's in Bulawayo... tripped trying to find my way into Mart's guesthouse, hit my head and saw stars! Does that count? On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch... Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! - Rudyard Kipling Life grows grim without senseless indulgence. | |||
