I need some help.

My Dad and I are going to Zim next year to hunt on the Save. We would like to go to Vic Falls before the hunt for a couple of days as we are taking the girlfriends with us.

We live in the UK and have been looking on the internet trying to find a flight from London to Harare then onto Vic Falls. Is this possible? We will than be coming back to Harare to take a charter flight to the Save for the hunt. After that we are splitting up. My Dad is off to Capetown and im heading back to the UK.

Mike

With kind regards
Mike

Mike,

You didn't mention if you're planning to take firearms with you but if you are, you'll need to fly to Johannesburg on one set of tickets and then have another separate set of tickets to take you onto HRE.

The reason or that is the EU have an arms embargo to Zimbabwe.

If you fly BA remember the murky situation about ex military calibres and also the fact that they require 72 hours notice that you'll be travelling with firearms.

This might help:

Thanks for the information. I am not taking a firearm with me or any ammo. A PH friend of mine has kindly let me use his .300 for the hunt.

If you are taking firearms, then I'd book London Joburg on Virgin. I'd get a meet and greet to whisk you out of the airport then I'd go Joburg - Vic Falls or HRE with SAA on another seperately booked ticket. Tell no-one at Virgin or LHR that your firearms are going to end up in Zim, let them think SA is you final destination, then you'll have no problems.

Who are you hunting with in Save? I was there last year.

I'd recommend chartering from Vic Falls direct to the Save rather than going to Harare and then chartering. I just had some clients do this. When we compared the cost of 4 tkts on Zim Air Vic Falls to Harare and then a charter plus the hassle of flying to Harare and then changing planes it was much better for these folks to charter direct Vic Falls to the Save.

Since your not carrying guns and ammo you can contact BA and check your luggage all the way through to the Falls. There is a BA flight leaving Heathrow at 7:05 PM arr JNB 6:55 AM and a Comair flight leaving JNB at 12:50 PM arr Vic Falls 2:10 PM. Slick!!!

Good luck,

Mark
