I have been prevented from boarding a plane because the airlines said they were over the weight limit. And, I had a cheap ticket. Airline seems to determine how many needed to be removed, and refused boarding of those with the cheapest tickets. It is unusual to board people, then remove them. More often, if the plane is over booked, they used to offer free tickets, or $100, or something, before boarding passengers. Maybe they don't do that anymore, and just pull people off, and bring in the Cops to make sure anyone who protests, is hand cuffed. Why airlines block people, or remove people, is mysterious, and the airline employees make up reasons to deflect fault away from the company. So, you really can't believe anything they say, other than, you are off the flight, and if you cause trouble, you are going to be arrested. | |||

Air Canada is one of the worst!! Unfortunately they control all the efficient flights within most of Canada :-( I fly them more than I like for business and it is obvious that they treat passengers differently based on how much they paid for a ticket.. I almost always fly business class for both work and pleasure nowadays - even on flights that dont have business class seating.. The odds of getting bumped or having luggage lost is significantly lower and you are treated like a customer and not cattle... I guess you get what you pay for...... Friday I was on an oversold flight and they asked for volunteers to rebook on another flight. Since I had horrible connections and wouldn't get home until 11:30 at night, I volunteered. They rebooked me on a better connecting flight, upgraded me to first class and gave me a $300 travel voucher for future flights. I actually got home and hour and a half earlier than planned. Sometimes they do us right.. I was heading back from Glasgow in May on Iceland Air with last leg being Jet Blue from BOS to CLE. My connecting flight from Boston to Cleveland was cancelled (they did away with the flight) and it was the last one out that day. I assumed I would overnite in Boston and continue on the next day and had made those changes with Jet Blue (final leg). When I checked in at Glasgow, the counter agent saw that and made a call: they re-routed me to Dulles and onto Cleveland via United that day. I thanked him and he told me that they only provide priority re-routing to their Saga Class customers.. So once again, I got what I paid for - and it was worth every penny!
