When I arrive at Hosea Kutako Airport in Namibia where do I claim my firearm?
Any information on Kutako Airport would be very helpful.

Thanks for any information.

Get off the plane go through customs and when you go to the baggage claim look to the left for the sign with a firearm on it that is where your firearms will be it is also the police so you can do your paper work there.

Good luck and have fun!

M98 - oddsix is correct and if you fill out the paperwork prior to arrival it will speed up the process and you are out and on your way quicker.
The airport is not very large so everything is easy to negoiate.

Here's a link to get the form: http://www.natron.net/napha/gr...application-2007.pdf

Fill it out ahead of time and put it in your carry on w/your 4457. We went ahead of a whole lot of hunters who were trying to find a place to write, waiting on a pen etc. The police seemed to appreciate that we were ready to go when we walked up!

+2 on all the above posts. Filling out the form beforehand is the secret to a quick smooth entry. I suggest using a PDF editor and typing the information rather than handwriting as sometimes an individual’s writing is hard to understand unless your penmanship is perfect. I did that on 2 trips and the Customs official was impressed and moved me though in about 10 minutes.
Good luck

All the above is good.

You'll queue to get through the Immigration counters, turn right and go the short distance to the baggage conveyer. The firearms office has a window and rifle sign on your left just before entering the large room with the baggage conveyor.

Likely the Namibian Police Officer who issues Temporary Firearms Permits won't yet be there, so you might as well take the few steps into the baggage hall, get a cart, pick your checked luggage up and walk back to the window to await the Policeman.

He'll open up and check your form. By then the firearms luggage/ammo will have arrived on the other side of the office. He'll invite you in, check your passport, note when your tickets have you departing and ask you to open the gun case to check serial numbers. No one has ever asked to check ammo, but they can if they want to.

He (or she) will give you your Permit and you exit through the "Nothing to Declare" doors into the main terminal where your outfitter will (hopefully) be there and fall on your neck with a glad cry Smiler

Regards, Tim

I found the process to be a fun bit of theatre that I got to take part in. I cleared Immigration, found the firearms office locked and wandered off to collect my luggage. By the time I returned the audience (the sweet young things from Immigration) had gathered and noted my entrance from stage left. A few minutes later, the noble Defender of the People made a majestic entry from stage right (It was majestic too, the guy had style).

Soon the office was open and I was summoned. Upon handing over my correctly completed paperwork I was cast as The Good Foreigner. The hunter behind me stoke only Italian and had not completed the forms. He was cast as The Poor Dumb Foreigner. For The Good Foreigner, nothing would be allowed to hinder his journey and he was soon sent forth to be merry in a flurry of paper stamping. Alas Poor Dumb Foreigner. For him things were not to be so simple and he was treated with firm, dramatic professionalism.

PDF appeared to be developing a migraine by the time TGF exited stage right. Do the paperwork before you land.

Now this was several years ago but, when us PDF's came into the terminal off the plane we did not know you had to fill out some immigration form. So beware and look around and see if people are standing at counters filling out a form. One of the questions ask for an address where you will be staying. Several people got sent to the back of the line when they could not give the address. Some quick thinking and I used the Swakopmund Hotel.
