Just wanted to post kudos for Emirate Airlines. I booked a flight with them from JFK to Dar, Tanzania. Tried to get several travel agents to book emirates but no luck so did it my self. i did it my self because it was $600 per ticket cheaper than what the travel agents offered. traveling with a gun was no problem just make sure you call Emirates a week or two ahead of time with serial # etc My wife and son went about a week ahead of time and missed their connection at Dubai and Emirates fed them and put them up in a swank hotel in dubai. We all agreed that if we ever do this trip again (and I hope we do) that we'll lay over a couple of days in Dubai. If you have never been to Dubai, it is quite a sight.

Dogcat flew out of JFK around 11 in the a.m one stop at Dubai for a couple hours then on to Dar. It is around 12 or 13 hours to Dubai and another 5 or 6 to Dar. You skip a day on the way out and gain it on the way back, I think. PM me if you need more details.

FYI IT is ALSO worth noting that Emirates fly from (Dubai direct to Johannesburg) so that effectually put you into the MAIN AFRICA HUB so to speak Cheers Emirates & Saeed's connections Peter
