It will hard for BA or United to top this but I'm sure that they can if they try.

Passengers horrified as plane's emergency door falls off during landing

Passengers onboard a domestic flight in Nigeria were left shaken when the plane's emergency door flew off during landing. The Dana Air flight arrived in Lagos from Abuja on February 7 before the exit door came off the aircraft during taxiing. The airline denied any mechanical problems and said the door must have been forcibly opened and removed by a passenger. However, several passengers have refuted those claims, saying the door appeared to be damaged throughout the flight's duration.

"The flight was noisy with vibrations from the floor panel. I noticed the emergency door latch was loose and dangling," one passenger told the BBC.

"When we landed and the plane was taxiing back to the park point, we heard a poof-like explosion, followed by a surge of breeze and noise. It was terrible. "The cabin crew tried to say a passenger pulled the hatch, which everyone denied. They also tried to get us to stop taking videos or pictures."

We were a Zimbabwe Airlines plane, and they were having a lot of trouble closing the door of the plane.

So much so that my wife wanted to get off the flight.

They managed to close it eventually, and we got on our way.

One time on Qatar Airways.

They pushed back, he taxid a bit, then stopped and turned around, saying one of the doors was showing that it is not closed.

The engineers came over.

There were two doors, one for First and the other was for economy.

The engineers were busy fixing the economy door, when suddenly the captain comes out of the cockpit screaming his head off “it is the other door you IDIOTS”

Returning from JNB on BA thru LHR to IAD. In LHR, they could not get the door closed. It took them 8 hours to fix and we were not allowed to deplane. We were served all our meals and we were still at the gate...Long trip.

They must have purchased one of UA's POS B767's that they use to fly between IAH and LHR.

Sometimes mechanical shit happens. Sometimes you've got pilots working for you who simply do not know how to fly an airplane.

Back in the 1990's Zambia Airways DC 8 was jacked up in the middle to replace a tire or two. Of course they jacked it up correctly with multiple jacks supporting the nose, middle and wings etc. End of buzzer went and every body went home. Came back following morning to find the plane had a bit of a bend. Simple to fix - they just put some other jacks around and let it bend back!

I went to the Civil Aviation HQ in Lusaka, again in the early 1990's to get a training licence. I was offered a full licence to drive a 747 for a certain help with the farm. The fact that my flying experience consisted of a few flights in Chipmunks and soloed in a glider was beside the point.
