doubleboyEmirates to Lusaka ?
Gentlemen,
Theres a number of posts discussing flying on Emirates from the states.
Consensus is the Emirates firearm form is relatively straightforward but I don’t think I see any information on the “prior clearance into the UAE from UAE Customs & UAE Ministry of Defense” that Emirates references on their website.
Any thoughts or experience ?
I’m not opposed to using a Travel Agent, I’m just not sure they can book Emirates flights.
Thanks in advance.

SaeedEmirates, flying through Dubai, have their own clearance rules and they deal with them when you book your flight with firearms.
The firearms are in Dubai Airport Police custody at the airport, so technically they are not entering the country.

EnglandAs Saeed describes, you'll need preauthorization from Emirates to fly with firearms but this has not been a problem for my travel agent and me. I've flown the USA to Dubai to Lusaka/Harare a few times without any issues. For the last couple trips, Qatar economy was significantly cheaper than Emirates, but my wife and I prefer to fly Emirates when the cost is similar.

SaeedThere is confusion when people search for firearms into the UAE.
They get a page with required authorization from other government departments.
This does not apply to people flying Emirates through Dubai.
It is really very simple, and takes the hassle of rechecking on the next flight.

Gracey Travel will set you right and the application for Dubai needs to be made a month prior.

FrostbitJust be careful if you use a Tuffpak. Often it's confused with a golf club case. Ours came out on the carousal with the rest of our luggage (we had a chosen three day layover) and we couldn't find anyone to take possession. We took it to the airport police office ourselves and this breached "possession" rules. Luckily the problem self resolved over a 90 minute period of tea and hospitality.

BigBBearI will be flying through Dubai and then on to Harare. I am working on the form now and it requests an uploaded license for the firearm which is not necessary here. Would that be the new 4457 as a "license"

When I fly Emirates, they don't allow me to board. I stand by the gate agent until they get a phone call. I've always assumed it is they won't let me on the plane, until my firearms on on board?

No idea.
May be just because you look suspicious?
