If I make credit card purchases at Dubai International Airport are charges typically in Dirham ( local currency ) or other currencies ?

One this I found in Dubai, was they don't take credit card. They only take Debit cards with a PIN number. This was two weeks ago. Since I do not use Debit Cards, we had to use the little woman's debit card.
