GBEScopes in hand luggage
Seen this mentioned a few times on here by seasoned travellers. Unfortunately we often have at least one domestic leg here prior to heading OS to hunt, and I was under the impression that this was not acceptable in Australia

.
Anyone like to comment on the legality or otherwise of doing this rather than keeping them in the rifle case or a separate case in your checked luggage?

larrys01TSA considers a Scope to be a Gun Part, but does allow them in your carry on. However you may encounter a agent that wants to give you a hard time about it? Safest bet is to put it in your Gun Case.

Do not put your scope in your carry-on. You are only asking for trouble if you do this. Leave it in your gun case.

Wise advice.
In some countries you might also have problems.
