Would anyone have some advise on Dar immigration.
Is 1 hour 40 minutes enough for a flight on to Arusha ?
I thought it might be a little tight....
Thanks

If you have a visa already in your passport, it should be enough.

If you have to obtain one at arrival, it depends on any flight arriving at the same time as yours.

You can get visa on arrival, but that takes longer than when you already have it.

Are you bringing Firearms? What flight are you taking to Arusha? What flight do you plan to arrive in on?

Short answer, probably not enough time. Emirates and Qatar arrive at roughly the same time, and the airport grinds to a halt. Other flights in don't cause as much of a delay. The new airport is supposed to open in April, so that may not be an issue going forward, who knows.

thank for all the replies.

No, I don't travel with guns on that one so it might make it quicker.
Arriving from Joburg then with Costal Air to Arusha. They offer a meet & greet service.
I will look into getting the visa beforehand also. Hopefully it works out ok.
Cheers

If you are flying in the front of the bus and have meet and greet, maybe it will go.

My experience has been it takes a while, and the guns take longer.

I’d ask the meet and greet folks if they think it will work, but off the top of my head it’s very iffy.

Coastal flies out of the smaller airport, it isn't as easy landing and walking to another terminal. You will have to land, get visa, collect your bags, find your meet and greet person, pay for parking (lot is usually a nightmare) then drive (under 5 min) to the other airport to fly Coastal. The Coastal flight is on a caravan, and as long as you are there 15 or 20 min before the flight it is probably fine.

If your an American and planning on a visa prior to departure, you might consider the Tanzanian Mission to the UN, in NYC. They used to always be faster and more responsive than the Embassy in DC.

Note, the above information is starting to get old since Visa's are so much easier to get in Dar these days.

Of course if you are not an American, completely disregard this useless post Wink
