What's the best seat for a single traveler flying DL200 ATL to JNB. Right now, I have 2A, but would like to hear comments. I've never flown business on the 15.5 hour flight, always suffering in Economy or slightly less in Comfort Economy... but this time..... I got lucky and snagged the business ticket for much fewer FF points (one-way) than I thought possible.... and now, they are selling for almost twice what I paid. The early bird, I guess?

Anyway, I will R.O.N. at Afton as I've done more times than I have fingers and toes, fly on up to Vic Falls and do my zillionth booze cruise, get wet in the spray of The Smoke that Thunders, sip some butternut squash soup on the veranda of the Victoria Falls Hotel and then go find a tuskless and maybe a leopard with Lou Hallamore.

Flying back Business Class, using Emirates, Etihad, Qater, don't have the one-way penalty that some carriers impose. They are actually quite reasonable, and if you do it right, you can get a 12 to 24 hours in an exotic city for a bit of sightseeing before flying on back home just rolling off your carry-on and leaving the heavy stuff in transit. I did that last year in Paris and it was a real treat to break up the outbound legs with a day along the Seine.

I had 1-A once on a RT. Quite nice but 2-A may be a little quieter as I reflect. 1-A was in good view of the galley and rest room area but not obtrusively so. 1-A may have a bit more storage per seatguru. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Seat 2A will be fine. Generally you want to avoid row 1 due to the proximity of the restrooms and galleys.

A great source for seating information in any class on any airline is a website called seat guru. It has seat maps for just about all the different airlines and lets you know which seats are particularly good and more importantly which seats are bad. For example, on Judge G's flight, seat 10A in Business Elite has a misaligned window.

The website can be particularly helpful if you're flying long haul economy as it can help you avoid the bad seats.

Judge I fly that flight 5 times a year on average and for Business 7A or 7B are the best seats as you have more room behind you to store stuff, plus you are always the first off.

At the end of the day, business seats are all good unless you are sitting across from the toilets (10 C). Then, no bueno...
