Hey y'all,

We are traveling to Namibia next month for a safari and we have a few days in Windhoek to kill. I was interested in hearing if anyone had stayed at the Onganga Guesthouse and what they thought about it. Also anything of interest near it or just in Windhoek in general for a couple of South Dakotans to do that others have found to be fun.

Thanks

I stayed there in 2005. Great place, good food and friendly owner and staff. I went into Windhoek for shoppping and sightseeing. A lot of local flavor. Eat at Joe's Beerhouse!! I will be flying through Windhoek in three weeks but will not be outside of the airport on my way to Maun, Botswana. Have fun!!

Ed,

We had a few days to kill in Windhoek last year and stayed with Uwe Trumper at the Airport Farm http://www.airportfarm-namibia.com. He has around 20k acres, loaded with springbok, red hartebeest, kudu, warthog, and gemsbok. The airport is literally on his farm, but there really is not any interference from the planes.

Uwe is a tour guide in the off season, so he knows the country as well. So if you need a place to stay, or a place to stay and hunt while you are there, Uwe can take care of you. I would highly recommend him.

I stayed there for a couple days. It's a great place with friendly, helpful people. Very pleasant view while sitting on the terrace for dinner.

Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it's supposed to do.
