I bring the universal international plugs I get from Radio Shack. It has every plugin that will work in Africa no matter where one goes. If you can't get one, when you land in the country you are going to, have your PH stop at any street market and someone will be selling the gadgets. +1 The type G plug is what I saw the most of during my time there, but as Cal says for less than a few $ on amazon you can get a universal one and have no worries.

The super markets sell them also. IIR they cost about $1 Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

Just a point. I guess everyone knows there are two types of plug-ins: 1. Adapter. This plug-in changes the plug pattern from African to American. It does not change the power from 220V to 110V. Many new American appliances (shaver, hairdryer, etc.) have a built in transformer that change the power to 110V for international travellers. It will list that on the appliance. 2. Transformer/inverter/converter adapter. This type of plug-in adapter will transform the power from 220V to 110V. It also changes the plug pattern like the one above. Type G is the most common. A tip for you if you have room in your bag is to take a small multi board (3 or 4) sockets and one adapter. That way you can charge multiple appliances at once without having to switch adapter over for each item.

What do you need to power? If it is a cell phone, camera, computer, etc. then you should always carry a 12V cigar lighter charger. No matter where you are in the world 99% of the vehicles will have a 12VDC outlet, and on most hunting trips you'll be spending ample time in a vehicle which gives you a dependable way to charge your small appliances. And don't forget also a USB plug charger. Late model autos, hotels, and any residence where there is a computer will have a live USB outlet which will also charge your small appliances.
