Any hunters stayed at the Windhoek Hilton? Plan to stay there this upcoming June and wondering how they treat hunters. Also, do you keep your rifles in your room or a hotel safe. Is Joe’s Beerhouse worth the taxi ride. Thx

Stayed at the Hilton Windhoek right after they opened. Nice facility, good food, they have a secure area for storage of firearms and are definitely hunter friendly (When I stayed there).

The trip to Joe's is definitely worth the taxi fare. We traveled with our PH so the taxi wasn't an issue but I'd pay for it if needed in a heartbeat.

The Hilton is also situated in downtown Windhoek and we went out a few evenings (We stayed before and after the hunt) with no issues whatsoever.

Hope you have a good hunt.

The Hilton is secure and they are hunter friendly. There are other places to stay, but if you want to stay at a hotel, it is the best in town.

Be advised, downtown Windhoek has changed a lot over the past 18 months. Petty crime is on the rise and kids high on glue are running amok. It is not advisable to roam around at night. Do not go anywhere unescorted and don't carry a lot with you while out and about. Dress down and try not to look like a tourist - especially a rich foreign hunter.

Joe’s Beerhouse is a tourist favorite, but there are much better places to eat. Folks go there to experience the joint that it is and down a few hundred Jagermeisters in the process.

IMHO the Hilton is greatly overpriced. My last two trips in Windhoek I stayed at Casa Piccolo, which is 2 K (1.2 miles) from Joe’s. They have a walk-in vault for gun storage and free Wifi and breakfast. Their 2018 rate for a Single is $81.17 US. A cab to Joe’s is about $6.00 US. Joe’s is a MUST if you’re a hunter passing through.
