I am finding out that in coach that I can carry on "one (1) piece of carry-on baggage that should not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches (55 x 38 x 20 cm) and must weigh no more than 7 kg (15 lbs)." I have always brought on a "personal item" small bag I put under the seat where I carried prescription meds, binos, ext when flying on South African or Delta. This is going to complicate matters. Anybody else have had this problem before? Does that mean that every lady on a flight doesn't get to carry a purse? Solutions? Suggestions?

I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf....

RAC;

Although I traveled Biz Class last year, I was allowed a generous sized bag containing cameras, satellite phone, meds, binos, 1 change of clothes as well as my HUGE purse which contained all my travel documents make-up, money, CC's etc. I was able to stow both in the bin above my seat if I wanted to but opted for one stowed above my head and one stowed under the seat (barely fit).

No one ever questioned me about either or weighed anything. But I am a older woman, who they probably figured I needed all that stuff. Eeker

Now I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do about the US travel restriction on electronics traveling from Dubai.

Best regards, D. Nelson

Yea, they allow a second bag in business. I called Emirates customer service and inquired. And I said, what about women's purses? Evidently in coach that has to fit inside the carry on. So I will adapt. I need rifles, ammo, binoculars, 2 cameras, spare clothes and a jacket. Everything else is just luxury. My ammo case is pretty large and I can fit bulky items like a jacket in there. I like carrying everything in one carry on and a Filson hunting bag on the jet for my clothing and incidentals. That way I only have to worry about the gun and ammo stuff. But hopefully all will make it to Harare.

How are you going to handle your cameras on the way back? Are you transmitting Dubai?

I am taking a regular pocket size point and shoot and one of the larger ones that looks like a SLR. I use a takedown gun case for my ammo. It is a good lockable case which I can take out the foam and can put my cameras in on the way back. I will hand carry my SD cards with me. It is my understanding that I can hand carry down but not on the way back. I am leaving my Ipad home because of this rule.

Sounds good and the same idea I was considering.
